Goodbye Malta, Hello Shared Travels

So I spent most of the weekend finishing off my website (yep the one you are reading), packing my life into boxes from our flat in St Pauls Bay ( an awesome pretty little one roomed place that has been my first official “moving in together” pad” – thats a WHOLE other blog post!) and then spending some amazing  time with some super inspiring special people by the fire side, with a little gratitude filled moment on my way home on my favourite cliffs in the land that gives me so much restoration and love every year (a little homage in the photo shown). It dawned on me…. Malta I am gonna miss you!

An NGO here in Malta called Why Not? has set up some community land in a town called Mgarr about 20 mins from here and they had a day of compost workshops, home made chai competition, cake and olive oil eating, cuddles and catch ups. And a drum circle around the camp fire to finish. I arrived there to find all of the wonderful people I am blessed to know on this rock all in one place. The perrrfect way to spend my last afternoon here.

For those of you that know me they know this is my regular. 6 months away doing voluntary work, 6 months in Malta earning corporate money to do it all again… Its been 3 years like this now and although I thought it was to be my last in 2013 (after 12 years on and off of travelling I finally felt like stopping for a bit) I met a lady friend who wanted to… yep, you guessed it, TRAVEL 🙂

The whole process has been a little scary, a little terrifying, shifting from singledom (34 yrs of it) into a full blown relationship. And although we have been through the craziest of situations this past year we are stronger than ever. And my heart has been opened in a way I could not have imagined. With a little bit of a struggle, a little bit of resistance and a lot of barrier breaking I feel victorious over myself!

And NOW we are off to travel. Not IIII am off to travel. WE are off to travel. The lone ranger is no longer lone. The song of Littlest Hobo is no longer the theme tune to my life. This time I am going as a two.

G squared a friend of ours calls us. 2 peas in a pod. Gayle and Greta has become a common catchphrase. And although its been a real shift for me to let someone in. I could NOT be happier. I can not wait to share all the adventures that I have had for 12 years alone, WITH someone. That feeling of experiencing this beautiful planet in all its glory and vibrancy and be able to share that with someone who lights up my heartfeels lke the most incredible gift.

We have 3 weeks of holidaying before our voluntary work starts and I have to say I am thoroughly looking forward to beach huts, sunrise meditations, adventures, exploring countries and cities I haven’t been and just NOT having a time schedule. To lay in bed if we want, to get up if we want, to follow the flow of the day and the universe and just enjoy connecting. And learning about each other. And appreciating life and this gorgeous rock called earth.

Part of me is still scared, this year has been a BIG first for me in many ways. But what is life if I don’t throw my heart out there.

A great quote of “but what if it doesn’t work out… ahhhh but what if it DOES” springs to mind.

Life without love is like rain without water.

Like a plant bathed in sun, love gives us the energy and glow to truly LIVE. To push aside our fears and go for things we never would without it. And not just romantic love, but love for the planet, love for one another, love for living in the most conscious way we can, love for ourselves and the want to share our hearts with others and make each others lives MORE beautiful.

And hugs.

Don’t forget the hugs! 🙂

So thats it, everything is sorted (pre planning is also a new experience for me) and tomorrow we fly.

BOOM

I’ll let you know how it goes!

Stay in touch with me on here, or on my social media. Mostly I’m off the grid in some sustainable community style set up so if I go quiet, don’t panic. Just enjoy the silence.

SOOO a MASSIVE thank you to everyone on this little rock who fill my heart and soul with light and love, and a big HUGE amount of gratitude for you all being in my life, for the loves, the laughs, the tears and the joy we’ve shared in the past 7 months.

As ever, I’ll be back.

Prob end of July.

Watch this space.

The rest of the world WWWWEEEEE are COMINGGGGGG!!!

Much love, light and blessings

Gayle
